I sometimes post about the General Conference held by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints every April and October, but I don't say much about the General Relief Society Meeting which is held annually at this time of year. This meeting is for the women's organization of the church. It is broadcast and distributed to women in over 170 countries and provides great spiritual enrichment and strength to all who attend.
The speakers at the meeting are usually all three members of the General Relief Society Presidency. The women currently serving in the presidency are Julie Beck, Sylvia Allred and Barbara Thompson. The fourth speaker is usually someone from the General Presidency of the church, basically our current prophet or either of his two counselors.
The 2010 meeting was held this last Saturday and I don't think I've ever loved a General Relief Society Meeting more than this one. I would encourage you to take the time to listen to the whole thing if you can (see the video below). It is well worth the time.
And if you get a chance this weekend, check out the LDS General Conference meetings which will be broadcast at 9 a.m. (PST) and 1 p.m. (PST) on Saturday and Sunday on BYUTV or here at lds.org.
